Our goal is to keep the members of GID updated on issues within various local and county  groups that impact our community.   Committee members, as their schedules permit, attend meetings of the Galveston City Council, Galveston County Commissioners, Galveston Independent School District, Galveston Parks Board, and Galveston Wharves Board, and report back on issues and items of interest.

Help Hector and Randy in the planning and hosting of the First Monday Coffee Club, Third Tuesday Happy Hour, and other special events and outings.

• Join our Book Club … where we meet in a casual environments to read, ponder and and discuss topical books together.

For All Things Voting …

Chair: Peggy Purvis

• Get Out The Vote (GOTV) … where we go out into our community and share information with voters  – distributing candidate literature and voter information through block walks and lit drops; organizing and hosting phone banks and text banks; and hosting post carding events on behalf of candidates and our County Party and Precinct Chairs.  We support our Candidate Liaison and Social Events Committees, and the candidates themselves, through voter outreach events throughout Galveston County.

• Training and Workshops … where we provide training and workshops to prepare our volunteers to participate in GOTV activities.  We also support the Galveston County Democratic Party by providing training and workshops for Precinct Chairs in the use of the tools and technology that assists them in reaching voters, recruiting block captains and pinpointing prospective volunteers in their precincts.

• Voter Information … where we recruit and support our Island Volunteer Deputy Registrars (VDRs) in providing information to assist people in knowing when and how to register and cast their votes.

This is the committee that supports our County Chair in the recruiting, training and support of our Galveston Island precinct chairs.

Chair: Janet Jordan

This committee is responsible for choosing, implementing and supporting the technological solutions which help streamline the work of our leadership, committees and membership.

We also act as a hub to facilitate the receiving and disseminating of information to and from our members, partners and the general public.

We maintain the official GID website and social media pages and publish the monthly newsletter and email blasts.
