Mark 125th Anniversary of the Great Storm
& Honor the 8,000+ Lives Lost that Day

Galveston Island Democrats are inviting members to join in forming a human chain along the Seawall to honor the more than 8,000 lives lost on September 8, 1900 in the Great Storm, 125 years ago. Together, participants will stand as a living tribute to resilience, remembrance, and community pride.

If you wish to participate, meet at the Great Storm Statue, 4700 Seawall, by 8:45 a.m. Wear your GID t-shirt/cap or a blue shirt. The schedule is as follows

• 8:45 a.m. –  Line-up along the Seawall (or come early and enjoy the da
• 9:00 a.m. – Photo opportunity and drone flyover
• 9:30 a.m. – Ceremony at the Great Storm Statue with remarks by the Mayor and other community leaders.

All ages are welcome. Event will take place rain or shine. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water. Parking along Seawall is free until 10:00 a.m.
