Vote! How hard could it be!

1. The Texas State “SAVE” (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility) acts are dead. This was Texas SB 16 & HB 5337. Never made it to the floor for the last round of voting. Why? It has been suggested that they couldn’t figure out how to implement it. Why? Could it be all the married women on both sides of the aisle who objected that their current legal name did not match the allowable id’s, namely, their birth certificates. Still up at the US Senate, but maybe this is a strategy that could work there as well. Keep emailing, calling, writing.

2. The Voter Registrar’s office has moved from the Courthouse at 722 Moody (21st) Street, Galveston, the county seat, to Texas City. The application cards that say on the reverse 722 Moody as the mailing address will still be accepted, but by mail only-no drop off. The new address:

Wendy Fragoso, Chief Deputy of Elections
Galveston County Records and Elections Center
10,000 Emmett Lowry Expressway, Suite1152
Texas City, TX 77591

The actual new office could not be located via 2 different map app’s. Took 3 tries to find it and on the third one, I had help – two of us looking.

So here is how I found it:

  • I went Highway 3 past Mainland Hospital, under the underpass, and turned unto 1764 (Emmett F Lowry Expressway. always staying to the north on 1764, (don’t veer off ), but you could also go via I-45. Get to FM 1764 aka Emmett F. Lowry Expressway.
  • From 1764/Emmett F. Expressway
    Turn north on Century Blvd
  • Turn west on Mall of the Mainland Parkway (east takes you to the Galveston County Appraisal District)
  • Go past the Baptist Church
  • Go past Mainland City Center
Aim for the College of the Mainland Life Long Learning
  • Look north just before COM, It’s somewhat hidden as it is toward the back. it’s a tan & white colored brick building with a two story tower above the entrance. It’s name is on the front of the building.
  • It is roughly behind & past Olive Garden if that helps you get started.

You still have 5 days (not working days) to turn in your applications. For those of you who live in Galveston, several people have volunteered to take applications to this new location.

If you are a deputy voter registrar who has taken applications and need help getting them turned in, please contact me here abcbookk@yahoo.com, or text me 409-789-6316 and I will hook you up with someone who can take them.
